The design of the PRC 100 is an updated version of a popular Tissot watch first launched in the year 2000 which had a distinctive dodecagonal bezel. 
The watch features a solar quartz movement, powered by natural and artificial light, eliminating the need to replace the battery. The innovative aspect of this particular watch is that the solar cells are incorporated in the crystal and not in the dial as is usual. The honeycomb pattern of the solar cells are slightly visible under some viewing angles, giving the watch another visual dimension.
